Wikidroyd is an application for Android enabled Smart phones and tablets which contains a full wikipedia content.It was launched summer 2009 by a German company. The app does not need an internet connection meaning it is the first offline wikipedia of its kind. Since wikipedia contains millions of articles it is difficult to accommodate the whole of its content in a few GIGABYTES, so what the company does is it compresses the the text to an extent that can be practically accommodated in a limited space available on the phone. Also the pictures have been removed to keep the size down for the above mentioned purpose.The database is available in English,Arabic,Italian,french,German,Persian,Hindi and a few other.The app is avaialable for free on the Google play market.The latest version is v1.
