Founded on 14 April 1931, it currently plays in La Liga, holding home matches at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. The Granada C. F. is located at position 24 of the historical points classification of the First Division, where he has participated in 20 seasons and achieved 6th place twice. He has been runner-up of Copa del Rey. The club currently has about 14.0002 subscribers. The Mayor of Granada José Torres Hurtado promised to build a new stadium for 40,000 spectators if the team remains in the First Division. The economic crisis affecting the whole country made such construction impossible at the moment. Granada was the third Andalusian football team after Betis and Sevilla to compete in La Liga, in 1941–42.
