  • Claire Baker became Deputy Praetor in January 2578. She became the Leader of the Baltusian Democratic Party on June 12, 2582. Baker was the suprise victor in the 2583 elections. Anti-Amets Ansola voters decided to vote against the embattled Praetor and Mark Travaglius. Claire Baker won 36.66% on the first ballot, while Ansola won only 23.11%. On the second round, pundits were shocked to see that the Justice & Freedom Party put their endorsement behind Baker. She won a landslide victory over the Praetor. She also led the Democrats to a 33 Senate seat gain. In Gevaro, she led the Democrats to the greatest victory in a gubernatorial race ever. Her husband, Joseph-Marie Tiquet, was elected Governor with 99.32%. The incumbent OPX Governor, Lloyd Lievens, came in second with only 0.37%. The 2583 elections were the Democrats best election results since the July 2504 elections. Claire Baker made an interesting choice during her first days in office. She decided to remain in the position of Deputy Praetor. She did this just in case of defeat so she could still control the cabinet. In 2587, Baker was reelected in a landslide. In Gevaro, her husband was reelected as Governor with 99.39%. Following her reelection, she announced the BDP Headquarters would be moved to Gevaro. Two years later, she resigned as leader and as Praetor. Many members of the Baltusian Democrats quickly joined other parties, however, a few remained. When she resigned, she was the second longest BDP Praetor. She had just surpassed Menzies Judge.
