It is taken from the album Headlines and became their most successful single, reaching number 7 on the UK Singles Chart in 1983. The song features the vocals of Stevie Wright, the former bandmate of Harry Vanda and George Young from their time in The Easybeats. The UK 12" contained a 5:42 long disco version. In 1989 a new version of the song, remixed by Harry Schulz and Kaplan Kaye and titled "Waiting for a Train '89 (The Harrymeetskaplan Mix)", was released in the UK on Cha Cha Records.
