Jerel of Nenan (pronounced JERR-uhl of NAY-nehn) was a knight of Tortall and the knight-master of Garvey of Runnerspring. He was probably related to Hallec of Nenan. Keladry of Mindelan first met Sir Jerel when Raoul of Goldenlake invited him and his squire, Garvey of Runnerspring to practice tilting in order to give Kel experience in dealing with new opponents. Kel knew that Sir Jerel had been stationed on the southwestern coast of Tortall, in order to combat slavetraders and freebooters. She wondered, at first, whether or not that period of time changed Garvey, as he would have seen a fair bit of combat.
