The hydra is the fifth tier unit of the Warlock faction in Heroes of Might and Magic II, recruited by building a Swamp in Warlock towns. The hydra is a powerful unit, possessed of high hit points, good damage, and impressive attack and defense; however, its cripplingly slow speed means that the unit best serves on defense, either defending the physically vulnerable centaurs or keeping a garrison safe from enemies. A spell such as Haste or Teleport is ideal for improving the utility of a hydra on offense.
