Eventually, the Enterprise-E was again refitted and four years later, in 2379, the Enterprise-E under order from Admiral Janeway, Picard and his crew entered Romulan Space as guests of the new praetor of the Romulan Star Empire, named Shinzon, a clone of Picard. While in an attempt to stop Shinzon from both kidnapping Picard and destroying Earth, the Enterprise-E collided with the Scimitar, Shinzon's ship, causing massive damage to the saucer section of the Enterprise-E. After the sacrifice of Lt. Commander Data, the Enterprise-E limped home, for another refit, and a new first officer, Commander Martin Madden.
