The Amargosa system was a star system. Its primary, Amargosa, was studied by the Federation Amargosa observatory. In 2371, Doctor Tolian Soran launched a trilithium weapon into the star. The weapon, transported by a solar probe, caused a quantum implosion within the star, whereby the nuclear fusion broke down. The implosion created a level 12 shock wave which destroyed everything, including the observatory, within the system. (Star Trek Generations)
