The battle of Vrkzel was fought on August 20th, 1245. The large army of the Caliphate, led by Caliph Bunjamín, marched down from Barmenistan to subjugate the already weakened Khanate of the Banster, led by Shlajkai Khan, arguably the greatest warrior in the Khanate but an abysmal administrator and diplomat. The battle was fought a good fifteen kilometers south of the town of Vrkzel, the ceremonial capital of the Khanate. Shlajkai Khan perished during the battle, in his famed final charge against the vanguard of the Caliph's army. His brother Kezkai took over the command after his death, after the battle the Khan's Council hastily crowned him as Khan.
