Some , races and creature abilities on Shores of Winter have been changed to better fit the lore of the game world or for better balance. * Blindness Aura The duration of the blindness from the blindness aura has been increased. * Dragon Fear Aura The dragon fear aura has been changed to be closer to PnP rules. Creatures with 4 or fewer HD are panicked if they fail their save and will flee from the aura, while creatures with 5 or more HD are shaken and take a -2 morale penalty on attacks, skills and saves if they likewise fail their save. The duration of the dragon fear is 4d6 rounds.

Characters of level 11 or higher have the duration of the fear effect reduced by half if they fail the save. * Gaze Attacks Gaze attacks have a 50% chance to be averted if the character is facing away from the gazing creature. Blind characters are immune to gaze attacks. * Harpy's Captivating Song The Harpy's Captivating Song has been changed to confuse, instead of charm, to prevent characters from randomly using up potions or rare items while affected by the song. * Incorporeal Undead Some incorporeal undead, like wraiths and spectres, are weak when exposed to daylight and have a penalty during combat while outside in sunlight (note that summoned incorporeal undead are affected by this). * Manticore Spikes The manticore spikes do piercing damage instead of magical damage. * Undead SoW zombies and skeletons have their damage immunities tweaked to be closer to PnP. * Water Elemental Drown Attack The water elemental's drown attack now takes 90% of a victim's Hit Points as per the Drown Spell, instead of killing it. * Non-existent creatures The following creatures do not exist at all in the world, and should not be referenced in-game (this is not a complete list, just a few creatures often expected to be found in a DnD/NWN world): Aboleth Beholder Drow Duergar Mind Flayer Vampire Vampires as a specific creature do not exist in the world of Shores of Winter. However, the word vampire (and vampirism, vampiric, etc.) still exists, but instead is used to refer to any creature that feeds on blood and flesh of mortals, such as ghouls.
