Once, Kraahkan was the Great Being of Darkness, though he was becoming corrupt. When the Great Beings found out about this, he was locked in their dungeon. His brother, Maketa broke him out that night, and the next day they slaughtered warriors that were supposed to fight against Maketa's Makuta. After the war, the two of them and the remaining Makuta were sent to Voya Nui at Mata Nui's rising. That was when the Makuta called Teridax took control of Mata Nui's body and sent him into space within the Mask of Life.
