The AIM-9M Sidewinder is an American short-range air-to-air missile, developed in the 1950s. Most models of Sidewinder missile make use of infrared homing systems, including the AIM9M. The AIM9M itself is an improvement over the AIM9L, which itself was a major step in the direction of creating a more capable all-around anti-air missile.
