Ice Parasites are a subspecies of Parasite that have adapted to the Phendrana Drifts on the planet Tallon IV. They are closely related to the Plated Parasites, which are found in the Chozo Ruins on the same world. Like many other insectoid species found in the drifts, the Ice Parasite has developed a thick, icy plating to cover their exoskeletons and thereby protect them even further from harm. Unlike some of their relatives, they do not swarm and are larger, with the former likely having occurred due to the latter, and the latter likely having evolved specifically in order to hold enough ice to aid them in protection.

They may be a relatively new species as the Parasites can adapt to a new environment within three generations.
