In 2646, Aznar Miranda resigned as Deputy Praetor in order to persue an independent candidacy for Praetor later in the year. He helped Praetor Ada Cambridge form a new cabinet. On September 4, 2646, Aznar Miranda quit his campaign for Praetor. He announced his support for Praetor Ada Cambridge. He planned to run in 2649. On June 3, 2649, Aznar Miranda was elected Praetor. Aznar Miranda won 57.38%. He was elected by a landslide 16.2 million votes. However, the party lost 5 Senate seats. In November of 2647, Aznar Miranda recreated the position of Speaker of the Senate. On June 3, 2651, Aznar Miranda was reelected Praetor, however, at a reduced majority. Aznar Miranda claimed 50.54% to the opposition's 49.4%. His victory of 1.14% created huge tensions in the Senate. Aznar Miranda has the distinct honor of being the only Praetor in Baltusian history to tender his resignation to the Senate and have it rejected. He first offered his resignation on August 12, 2651 and on March 9, 2652. Both failed by a 48 to 18 margin. On September 1, 2652, nine months before the federal election, Aznar Miranda announced the appointment of Emerson St. Clair to the leadership following the elections. On January 5, 2653, the government officially fell giving a one month campaign. The final years of his leadership are best remembered for his attempts to resign the leadership, however, he left office in 2653 with a staggering 74% approval by the Baltusian people and polls showed that an Aznar Miranda candidacy would garner 56%. Free Democratic Leader Ada Cambridge would poll 24%. The remaining 20% would poll for the Baltusian Pantian Alliance.
