- By the 40th century, global warming had taken its' toll on the Earth. Much of the planet became a desert wasteland. Domed cities were a common sight, such as the Earth's capitol city. Metropolis was a major spaceport city at this point, which was what made it a hub for a variety of aliens from other worlds. A human subrace known as the Barlocks constantly prey on their human relatives, and desert slavers likewise prey on humans who get lost in the desert, making them their own personal slaves.

A human subrace known as the Barlocks constantly prey on their human relatives, and desert slavers likewise prey on humans who get lost in the desert, making them their own personal slaves. Although technology advanced quite a bit by this century, the Earth had became a harsh and dangerous planet to live on, with its' hot environment and many species now living on the planet that are hostile to humans.
