The Space Marines, or the Adeptus Astartes, are the finest troops of The Imperium. They field the best weapons and vehicles the Imperium can offer. They are created by using gene seed, or the DNA that is needed to make clones of the Space Marines, and each group of the Space Marines has their own storage of gene seed hidden in the gene-vault in the apothecarion. Every Space Marine wears a sort of power armor that protects them from most sorts of harm.

Every Space Marine wears a sort of power armor that protects them from most sorts of harm. The Space Marines are organized into divisions called Chapters, each led by Chapter Masters. They individual Chapters each were made in periods called Foundings. There were at least three Foundings with Chapters that have an unknown Foundings as the truth has been lost over the strech of the centuries. Each Chapter has either a planet they own or a fleet of ships that carry the Chapter around. There are hundreds of Chapters in the Imperium some of the most famous ones are listed below. * The Ultramarines- First Founding. The most famous Space Marine Chapter, they have fought every enemy of the Imperium at least once. They reside in the mini empire of Ultramar, a small cluster of space that is virtually unbreakable. The center of this realm is Maccarge. * The Salamanders- First Founding * The Blood Angels- First Founding * The Imperial Fists- First Founding. This Chapter fought alongside The Emperor during Horus Heresy. They were a vital part of the defences of his palace. * The Space Wolves- First Founding * The Dark Angels- First Founding * The Flesh Tearers- this Chapter was the successors to the Blood Angels. Second Founding * The Silver Skulls- Unknown Founding * Black Templars- This Chapter was another successor of the Imperial Fists. Second Founding. They travel in fleets of ships called crusades, each one is completely self-sustaining. * White Scars- First Founding * The Crimson Fists- This Chapter was the successor to the Imperial Fists. Second Founding. The Space Marines are the most powerful human warriors and they preserve traditions that have been in order since the Emperor ascended the Golden Throne. They often transport themselves around in great ships called Battle Barges that are larger and and far more powerful than any Imperial Navy ship. When assualting a planet, each Battle Barge drops Drop Pods onto the surface. Each Drop Pod carries either Space Marines, a single Dreadnought, or Whirlwind missle batteries. Each Drop Pod is dropped into the heart of enemy formations to create confusion and chaos in enemy ranks. Thunderhawk dropships bring in either a Predator tank or a Land Raider for armored support. Every Chapter planet is completely self-suficiant, they have their own space docks, forges, and training facilities. This is the same case for the roaming Crusade fleets that wander the stars.
