  • Sarisa Westmore is a New Republic Soldier who has a deep connection to the Wookies of Kashyyyk. With both her parents fighting to keep the Galactic Empire from taking control of Republic Space, Sarisa was practically raised by the Wookies and knows how to navigate through the worshyr trees with relative ease. She is always on the lookout for unexpected dangers thanks to her life on Kashyyyk and is one of few humans who understand not only shyriiwook but the rarer wookie language, Xaczik and the Wookie tech language Thykarann. Personality wise, Sarisa is generally quite a calm and reliable person with a mischievious streak. She does on occassion use sarcasm and satire but the one thing she hardly ever does, is cry in public. If she does cry it is when she is alone in her room without anyone around. This is due to being taught by the Wookiees that crying was a sign of weakness that one could exploit and as a result, often seems like a cold person when it came to things like death or destruction when she has really detached herself emotionally so she can remain objective. As witnessed recently, however, she can't quite detach herself from her team mates and when her best friend nearly dies after being kidnapped on Velmor, she can lose that sense of detachment and forget her rule of not crying in front of others. She is also, in a sense, religious and will pray to Melandru, The Goddess of Life when facing difficult situations. Background Deep in the heart of Kashyyyk, New Republic Soldier Lieutenant Naiya Westmore was out on a field exercise with husband and Group Commander Aeon Westmore when she suddenly began to curl in pain. Unaware of its cause, she tried her best to ignore it and keep up with her team until it got to the point where she couldn't walk any further. Her insides, feeling like they were being torn apart. With no medical center for miles around, Aeon sent two of his soldiers to find help while he and the rest of them stayed with Naiya and protect her from any predators that dared to take advantage of her vulnerable state. The Medic pressed on her abdomen and to his surprise, felt a large mass that felt like arms, legs and a head. Though she didn't look it and she had been unaware for so long, Naiya was pregnant and judging by the amount of pain she was in, she was going to give birth any minute. Frightened by her situation, Naiya had no choice but to birth the child in the dangerous environment and trust that the others would be able to protect her until the child was born and with the help of the Medic and her husband Aeon, Naiya gave birth to a strong, healthy baby girl, who they named Sarisa Naiya Westmore. Weakened and exhausted by the birth, Naiya delivered the child's placenta and somehow managed to find the strength to stand again, knowing the team couldn't stay where they were for long and with the support of the team, they managed to take Naiya and Sarisa to a medical center back in the worshyr trees for rest and medical checks. Fortunately, both were fit and well and Naiya was allowed time off to bond with the child and get used to juggling family life with her career as a Republic Soldier. As the years went by, Sarisa grew from a wildborn baby into an adventurous child, spending much of her childhood either being cared for by her parents or if they were on Republic Duty, she would be cared for by a clan of Wookies led by Lowrarro, who had once been saved from slavery by her father Aeon. There, Sarisa learned to stand up for herself as the wookie children would often call her 'Soft' because she wasn't as robust as the wookies were and would often return to her parents looking slightly worse for wear after a play fight. This teasing became ever more previlent when Sarisa was informed that her parents were killed in the line of duty at the age of 11, forcing her to live with the Wookies full time under the care of Lowrarro. Raised in the only way they knew how, the 'soft' Sarisa knuckled down and gave as good as she got, even managing to persuade Lowrarro to send her to the Hrrtayyk Ceremony, a ritual hunt that all young Wookies went on on their 12th Birthday and despite some vocal opposition, she was allowed to partake in the ceremony. She finally proved herself to be as capable as a wookie while on a ritual hunt with her 'brother' Jolbacca as they were both attacked by a large Katarn. While Sarisa escaped serious injury, Jolbacca was unable to save himself from the Katarn's attacks, leaving Sarisa to take care of the beast herself. With bravery her parents would've been proud of, Sarisa distracted the beast long enough for Jolbacca to get away before using the environment to her advantage, eventually killing the beast outright. Though badly injured, Sarisa dragged the beast back to the clan and threw it at Lowrarro's feet. She'd finally proven herself worthy of respect amoungst the wookies and none of them considered her to be 'soft' afterward. (TBC)Family The Westmore dynasty dates back to the days of the Old Republic, with many of them serving as soldiers and pilots of the Republic and originating from Naboo. At the end of the Mandalorian Wars however, much of the Westmore clan were split by Revan's hand as a number of them joined Revan on his quest for the Star Forge while others remained behind and returned home with the Jedi Exile. On her father's side of the family, the Westmores continued to serve the Republic and while Sarisa was late in joining the Republic Army, she too has followed in their footsteps. Unbeknownst to Sarisa, her mother's side of the family, the Bracknells are Imperials through and through and her parents met while Naiya was serving as an Imperial Officer and defected to the Rebellion to be with her love, Aeon Westmore after he showed her the life ordinary civillians lived in the crushing hand of the Empire and the real reason for Naiya and Aeon leaving Sarisa orphaned wasn't because they had died, but in fact had been captured and while Naiya yet lives and returned to her duties as an Imperial Officer, Aeon remains in the custody of the Empire. It is unclear whether the Empire knows of Sarisa's existance but has thus far made no attempts to locate or capture her. Sarisa discovered the status of her family when she received a cryptic message from Mirei Bracknell. Upon further investigation, it turned out that, Mirei was in fact her kid sister, who'd escaped the Empire's clutches to find Sarisa in the hopes of getting their mother and father out of the Empire. Agreeing to help her, Sarisa managed to infiltrate the prison colony on Bakura, where Aeon was held captive and then went in search of their mother. The plan went into disarray, however, and as a result, Naiya, their mother, was killed. This devestated Sarisa greatly and perhaps for the first time in years, Sarisa actually cried. The other people in her life she considers as 'family' is her best friends, Emma Creed and Union Jaeger. The pair are cousins but Sarisa considers them both to be her sisters because of the battles they've been through together. She is closer to Emma and Union than she is to her family as they have shared trials and tribulations. Recently, Union gave them all a surprise of their lives when she suddenly felt unwell. Having been tortured recently and operated on, Union believed something had gone wrong with her operation, only to find that she was actually in labour with a child she had no idea she was carrying. In the middle of a fierce storm, with the military compound in lockdown due to the severe weather and lack of power, Union only had Emma, a newly fledged medic, and Sarisa, whose only experience with midwifery came with assisting wookiee births, Union gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Jocelyn. Asked to be the girl's 'Aunt', Sarisa takes the honor very seriously and helps Union and her husband, Darc care and raise the girl.
