  • 4 Runner was formed in 1993 when Craig Morris met Billy Crittenden in Nashville where both singers were working as songwriters. Later, Jim Chapman (brother-in-law of Christian musician Steven Curtis Chapman) and Lee Hillard joined the group. They toured with Kenny Rogers during the 1990's. Polydor Records ' Nashville division signed the group in 1995. That year, they released their debut album. The lead single "Cain's Blood " reached a peak of 26 on the Billboard US Country music chart and 14 on the RPM charts in Canada. The other three singles from the album did not reach the top 40 charts in the US, the second single from the album ("A Heart with 4 Wheel Drive ") was a Top 20 hit in Canada. Due to restructing of Polydor, 4 Runner was transfered to A&M Records and Billy Simon was brought in to replace Crittenden. Their second album was not released due to the closure of Polydor/A&M's Nashville division in 1996. However, what was to be the lead single off the album, "That Was Him (This Is Now) " had already reached the country charts. The group disbanded not too long after.
