  • The termite was a lifeform type, an Earth insect animal. In the year 2267, Spock used this insect as an example of symbiosis, as the termite requires bacteria to consume wood. (TOS - Star Trek 2 novelization: Operation -- Annihilate!) Years later, Leonard McCoy jokingly mused that with Spock's half-Vulcan metabolic rate; he could consume a bowlful of termites with little or no digestive malfunction. (TOS movie: The Final Frontier)
  • The termite is a species of hymenopteric insects who feed primarily on dead plant material. There are several subspecies all around the world. Lost on the African savannah in 1916, Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck and Remy Baudouin roasted a giant termite queen and ate it, while Indiana Jones was not interested in eating it despite Baudouin insisting it didn't taste bad. According to von Lettow, the secret was to toast termite queens lightly, so they didn't get burnt on the outside.
  • Termites are a species of insects originally from Earth. They were brought to the Koprulu Sector, though it is unknown by what method they were brought from Earth. As a child, Erik Snabb lost his home to a termite infestation. He stated that the zerg hives built into the snow mountains of Braxis reminded him of that memory.
  • In Sonic the Comic, giant termites can be found on Planet Terminus. Knowing they existed there, Tekno the Canary volunteered to pilot Astratraz there so that the "guggets" could invade the planet. However, as soon as they disembarked, the giant termites emerged from the ground and completely devoured the invading army. Noting their massive size, Teko immediately took off once the guggets were away from the ship.

  • The termite, also known as a flea, is a common enemy featured in Daxter. They are very small, black, spherical creatures with a purple glow that gather in large swarms and will attack their targets simply by touching them. They are able to move quickly for their size by performing very high jumps. Tik was a friendly termite with a yellow glow, capable of speaking the single word "Tik".
  • A termite was an insect that ate wood. They could be quite destructive, especially to houses. Species of termites were found on several class M planets, including Earth and Vulcan. Loracus Prime had five thousand subspecies of termites, including spitting termites. Loracus Prime's termites were notable for having inspired Hodgkin's Law of Parallel Planetary Development. (ENT: "Strange New World")
  • thumb|Die Loracus Prime Spitting Termite. Als A.E. Hodgkin bei einer Vermessungsmission die Ähnlichkeit zwischen den Termiten auf Loracus Prime und auf der Erde bemerkt, entwickelt er darauf sein berühmtes Gesetz der parallelen planetaren Entwicklung. • Termites, or mangetout (French, lit. 'eat-all'), are tiny invisible reptiles. They are best known for their extreme smallitude and their ability to eat everything. Insatiable termite appetites are responsible for an estimated $27 trillion in worldwide property damages each year. As a result, termite extermination is a multi-billion dollar industry which employs up to a quarter of the working-age population in most OECD countries.
