| - Knowing that the original DNA from Weapon X would never be able to produce a male offspring, the Facility scientists decided to use the genetic make-up of X-23. They had a new chance to make their own Weapon X and use him for their own personal gain. Lead scientist, Lana Grayson, decided to follow in Sarah Kinney's footsteps. She became the surrogate mother for the male subject and awaited for his birth.
From the start, the boy was deemed a failure. He, like X-23, was not a perfect clone. Weapon X lacked the original's healing factor and he would not survive the adamantium bonding process. Lana asked that they give him a chance because he could still be useful later in hopes of developing a new clone. Not wanting to waste any time, the baby was artificially aged. At just fifteen, the boy was smart like his mother and learned quickly. Other than his genetic flaw, Weapon X seemed to adjust to the assassin life fairly well. He didn't question why he was at the Facility, he felt it was his home. This was further established in his mind as his mother began calling him Garfield. He exceeded the Facility's expectations during one training program where Weapon X pushed himself to the point where he shattered his bone claws, but continued fighting. They saw he was actually worth keeping for the time being due to his perseverance to not give up.
Months later, Garfield discovered that the Facility managed to create a new clone with X-23's DNA as well as his own. The combination would create an exact replica of Wolverine. The old Weapon X was to be terminated immediately as he was no longer useful to the Facility. Lana led her son to a containment room and left him there. Red lights began to flash as a toxic gas was pumped into the room. Lana and other scientists watched as Weapon X suffocated in front of them. He stabbed his claws into the two-way mirror and stared towards his mother before falling to the ground motionless. Minutes after, armed guards entered the room to dispose of the boy's body. They dragged him to an incinerator and were prepared to throw him in. All of a sudden, he regained consciousness and impaled one guard's chest. He fell to the ground as the other guard prepared to shoot; Garfield sliced off his arm.
The clone tried to find his way out of the Facility but to know avail. He began to destroy everything around him. Then he saw his mother leaving with a case marked Type B. Garfield knew it was his genetic replacement and he chased Lana in a fit of rage. He tackled her to the ground and was picked up by more security. He managed to escape, wounding the guards in the process and he retrieved the case. Garfield slashed the container into pieces and before escaping the grasps of the Facility, made one last glare at his mother, who whispered, "What have I done?"
New Beginnings
Garfield traveled for miles before he saw any signs of civilization. He knew he was being tracked so to avoid detection Garfield stole a set of new clothes. He attempted to hide his face behind a hooded sweatshirt, but he could smell something from the Facility heading his way. Not wishing to have unwanted casualties, Garfield headed for a seemingly-abandoned highway to lead his follower away from the small town.
He stood his ground and unsheathed his claws, preparing to face his follower. He suddenly realized he wasn't being tracked by a person, but something with an unidentifiable odor. As it moved closer the ground began to shake and then Garfield saw its face appear through the darkness. It was a Predator X, an experimental mutant hunter that the Facility had been developing. At this moment, Garfield realized it was there to kill him as the Predator X constantly needed to ingest fresh mutant DNA to avoid its degeneration process.

It sped towards him, so Garfield attempted to get behind it. He failed and the Predator X slashed his back with its immense claws. Gar could barely stand after the attack, but he would not give up. Predator X swung its arm at Garfield, but he ducked under it and stabbed it in the throat. The mutant tracker could not get Weapon X off, so it began to thrash around violently. Garfield slipped off and then was trampled by the beast. It stood over him and dug its claws into his chest as it prepared to devour him. An SUV sped down the highway, ran over Garfield and crashed into the Predator X, sending it off the bridge.
Garfield was barely conscious, but the only thing he managed to see before passing out was an MRD logo on the vehicle. When he awoke, a containment chamber had enclosed around his body. He violently struggled to become free, unsheathing his claws and breaking out of his confinement. Garfield looked around seeing the liquid that surrounded his body moments before flush against the room's walls. He could smell guards coming his way, so he cut an exit through one of the nearby walls. Guns fired at him, though the bullets missed. A mass of armed guards ran towards Garfield, who now felt a sense of fear that had never existed in him before. He ignored it and, enraged, attacked the incoming forces.
Garfield turned a corner, drenched in blood and the scene behind him showed the guards on the floor, rolling around in anguish. As he made his way through the facility, he took notice of the breakout that had commenced earlier. Other young mutants were fighting, trying to escape confinement. Gar entered a large courtyard that had dozens of inmates standing together, fending off the MRD forces.
Soon several Sentinels emerged, slaughtering many and capturing others. Weapon X ran out into the field and lunged onto a nearby Sentinel. He continuously slashed at its neck until it was severed. He jumped down and saw that he saved a boy, who introduced himself as Tommy. Garfield fought alongside him, until they escaped to freedom, eventually parting ways.
