The Barns of Ayr was an English military barracks located at Ayr, Scotland. The barns was where the treacherous slaying of a number of Scottish barons of Ayrshire, including Sir Reginald Crawford Sheriff of Ayr, Sir Bryce Blair of Blair, Sir Neil Montgomerie of Cassillis, Crystal of Seton, and Sir Hugh Montgomerie, by hanging in 1297 was undertaken. A total of three hundred and sixty people were executed. In revenge, William Wallace burned the barracks with the English inside. William later attacked Ayr Castle and slaughtered the English garrison.
