A fellow wizard of Damocles', Mathias Poe, used his own magic to turn the Sword of Acorns into a replica of Damocles that he used to amplify his magical power. The replica served him briefly by allowing him to create a golem to attack Knuckles, but the timely efforts of Archimedes allowed the Echidna to defeat the raven and reveal the replica's true form. Sir Connery would later state he had slain Damocles.

  • Eventually, Knuckles found him-or so he thought-in the company of Mathias Poe, a raven wizard who had also been mentioned by the Walkers. In fact, this Damocles was merely a mockup, a dummy created to hide the Sword of Acorns that Poe used to amplify his own powers. Knuckles realized this due to the Ancient Walkers informing him that the wizard and the alchemist both worked alone. (StH: #46) With the image destroyed, Knuckles pursued Damocles no further; it would fall to Sir Connery, Paladin of the Ancient Walkers, to hunt Damocles down and kill him, which he did. (StH: #164)
