Althai was a male Nerazim protoss. Some time after the khalai's exile from Aiur, he was trained in the use of a void ray prismatic beam weapon aboard the Purity of Form. His teacher was the ancient dark templar Theromos. During a battle with the zerg, Commander Feranon asked Althai to increase the main weapon's power by using an additional flux field projector. Theromos advised against it, but Althai thought he could handle it and told the Commander to go ahead. He was able to strengthen the beam enough to overcome the zerg, but was killed in the process.
