  • Ronald Antonio "Ronnie" O'Sullivan (born 5 December 1975) is an English professional snooker player from Chigwell, Essex. He is the reigning World Snooker Champion, having won the title for a fifth time in 2013. O'Sullivan turned professional in 1992, at the age of 16. Known for his rapid playing style, he soon earned the nickname "The Rocket". He won his first ranking title, the 1993 UK Championship, one week before his 18th birthday, and still holds the record as the youngest player ever to win a professional ranking tournament. He has won a total of 25 ranking titles in his career to date, including five World Championship and four UK Championship titles, and was ranked world number one for five seasons between 2002/2003 and 2009/2010. His non-ranking tournament achievements include four Masters and ten Premier League titles and winning the Nations Cup with England in 2000. O'Sullivan is joint third with John Higgins on the list of players to have won the most ranking titles, and is fourth behind Stephen Hendry, Ray Reardon, and Steve Davis on the list of players to have won the most World Championships in the modern era. With career earnings of over £7 million, he is second after Hendry on snooker's all-time prize-money list. He is also second behind Hendry on the list of players making the most competitive century breaks, with a total of 710. At the 1997 World Championship, he set the record for the fastest competitive maximum break at 5 minutes 20 seconds.
