"Love Is Surrender" is a song composed by Ralph Carmichael. Originally from the early 1970s Christian musical "Tell It Like It Is", Richard Carpenter and John Bettis changed many of the lyrics to reduce the song's overtly-religious meaning. It was released by The Carpenters in 1970 on their second album, Close to You. This is one of the few tracks in which both Carpenters, Karen and Richard, have a lead vocal. It fades out to "Maybe It's You" on the album.
