- Mon Calamari (known as Dac in Mon Calamarian and Quarrenese, and sometimes also called Calamari) was the home planet to a wealth of sentient species: the Mon Calamari, the Quarren, the Moappa, the Amphi-Hydrus, and the Whaldons. Mon Calamari was the name given to the planet by Human explorers from the Galactic Republic. The native species referred to the planet as Dac. The planet was a shining bluish-white orb from space, due to its ocean-covered surface. It was home to 27.5 billion Mon Calamarians and Quarren, and was surrounded by shipyards. During the Force War, it was the capital of the New Alliance.

- Dac, also known as Calamari or Mon Cala, is an ocean world and the second planet in the Calamari System, located in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. It is orbited by one small moon. Dac's surface is entirely covered by an ocean of liquid water, with occasional small islands and reefs. The planet is home to no less than five different sapient races, the most well known being the Mon Calamari, who inhabit the shallow waters and build grand cities on the surface. The Quarren inhabit the ocean depths, while the Moappa travel through the open ocean in large swarms. The hostile Amphi-Hydrus are also found on the surface. Finally, the poorly known Knowledge Bank is a sapient community of clam-like beings on the ocean floor.

- After the strange murdering of the Mon Calamari king Yos Kolina, Prince Lee-Char who was next to take the throne but the Quarren, under the influence of Riff Tamson, didn't want a new Mon Calamari king and protests broke out. The Mon Calamari called on the Republic for assistance and Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker came to try to stop some of the conflict, but the Quarren and Tamson were ready to depart from Dac's Congress. The Quarren, with the help of the Separatists, attacked the Mon Calamari. The Quarren finally allied themselves with the Mon Calamari at the end and fought against the Tridents and Aqua Droids. - Dac was the most important water-world ever. More important than Manaan and Kamino combined. It was so important, there were at least three kinds of sentient races there. Everybody loved the Mon Calamari. Everybody hated the squid-looking Quarren. Technically, the whaladons were intelligent beings, too... sentient beings with valuable oil and blubber and great-tasting meat that nobody could legally harvest... but you can find 'em on the black market.
