| - Kerotans must be hit with a bullet, tranq dart, explosive, knife/fork, or punch/kick to be triggered. Stun grenades and white phosphorous grenades can activate the kerotan if the grenade, not the explosion, hits the kerotan. Most kerotans can be hit with weapons like the M1911A1 and the Mk22, but a few kerotans can only be reliably hit with the SVD, RPG-7, or an automatic weapon.

Any kerotans that you've hit thus far will be remembered on your save file. If you hit 63 of the 64 kerotans on a completed save file, if you load up that save for a new game, you'll only need to hit the one remaining kerotan to get the Stealth Camo. The GA-KO camouflage uniform can help you find the kerotans. When you exit the menu screen after donning the GA-KO camo, you will hear the kerotan's "cry", which makes a "waka" noise. A kerotan that has been hit makes a "waka-waka" noise; if the kerotan is far away, you might need to use the Directional Microphone to confirm that it was hit. The Thermal Goggles and Night Vision Goggles (NVG) can also help you spot kerotans in dark, distant, or oddly colored places. When you equip the GA-KO camo, press start to pause the game, then press start again to resume play, and if you have not shot the frog already it will make the waka waka sound. If you have already shot the frog it will not make the sound after your press start the second time. You don't need to shoot the frog each time. if it does not make the sound with the GA-KO camo on then you shot it already, but if you shoot it anyway it will still make the sound regardless.
