Marina missed her late father so much, she persuaded her mother to accompany her to a psychic, Vivien Marchand, in hopes of contacting his spirit. Her mother was shocked by how much Vivien knew about Emilio, but felt that the money was at least not a total waste, seeing how much comfort it gave Marina. However, unbeknownst to Marina, Paula was becoming more and more concerned by the psychic's revelations, and when Vivien told the Casillas women that Emilio had some big secret to share at their next session, Paula acted. Since she had already killed her husband, by poisoning and because he was planning to divorce her for a 'younger model', Paula had no qualms about buying an ice pick and stabbing Vivien to death with it. Marina was part of her mother's alibi, having dinner with her round the corner from Vivien's office on the night of the murder, but she still tried to stop her mother talking when Paula confessed to the murders of her husband and the psychic.
