Gourmet Guy is a fat Shy Guy who works for Bowser and will only help you if you give him a cake in Paper Mario. Because of his appearance, it is expected that Gourmet Guy is a member of the Fat Guy species which was introduced in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.One thing notable about Gourmet Guy is his reaction to a good cake. It only comes twice in the game. First, Gourmet Guy will go, "Ooohhhhh! oooohhhhhh! OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!" Then the screen will spin as he says, "This is lip-smackingly delicious!" Next, he gets really hyper and dashes around the screen. At the end of the game, during the parade, when the Fearsome 5 eat part of Huff N. Puff, Gourmet Guy realizes he and the Ruff Puffs are edible, and chases after them in a hunger frenzy.

If the cake was made incorrectly, Gourmet Guy would spit out the cake and insult it, saying the quote above. If the cake was made correctly, Gourmet Guy would tell Peach that the fifth Star Spirit, Misstar, is in Lavalava Island, guarded by Lava Piranha.

General Guy, a major servant under Bowser, in in charge of all Shy Guys, presumably including Gourmet Guy. Gourmet Guy is probably the only Shy Guy to help Mario.
