Walter Butler of Roscrea (c. 1600 – December 25, 1634) became a soldier of fortune when his family estates in Roscrea, North Tipperary were confiscated in 1616. He rose to become colonel of a regiment of dragoons, and was involved in the assassination of Albrecht von Wallenstein.
