Following Gaius Julius Caesar's promotion to dictator of the Roman Republic, Cassius, along with a number of other Assassin Senators calling themselves Liberatores, began to plot Caesar's assassination. Tasking Brutus with devising the plan, twenty-three Liberatores killed Caesar inside the Theater of Pompey on 15 March 44 BCE.
