The Dark Beam is a weapon of Luminoth origin that mimics the dark energy type of Dark Aether and its denizens. This weapon is compatible with Samus Aran's arm cannon, and was integrated into her suit during the events of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. So far it has only made an appearance in that game.

Die Schüsse des Dark Beam haben die gleiche Fluggeschwindigkeit wie die Schüsse des Ice Beam aber die Feuerrate des Dark Beams ist höher. Er kann auch mit einem aufgeladenen Schuss Feinde einfrieren sodass sie dann mit einer Missile vernichtet weden können. Außerdem nimmt der Waffenarm die gleiche Form an wie beim Ice Beam. Weiteres ist zu erwähnen, dass der Dark Beam, genau wie der Light Beam Munition verbraucht. Zu Beginn hat man 50 Einheiten Dark und 50 Einheiten Light Munition. Das kann mit Erweiterungen bis auf 250 Ein
  • Early in the war, the Luminoth learned that the Ing utilized energies comprised of pure darkness, and were primarily made up of the same energies. They believed they could kill the Ing by overloading them with dark energy. To that extent, the Luminoth produced the Dark Beam, which would utilize dark energy. After testing the weapon, it was learnt that the Ing are able to ignore the shots of the Dark Beam, having been born in a world ravaged by harsh dark forces. The Dark Beam was decommissioned and repurposed for opening portals to Dark Aether, and later for operating Light Crystal Mechanisms.

After testing the weapon, it was learnt that the Ing are able to ignore the shots of the Dark Beam, having been born in a world ravaged by harsh dark forces. The Dark Beam was decommissioned and repurposed for opening portals to Dark Aether, and later for operating Light Crystal Mechanisms. After the Ing had defeated the Luminoth, a Dark Beam weapon module was found by Samus Aran in a Space Pirate base, who then used it in her quest to save Aether from the Ing.

Wenn man keine Munition mehr hat, kann man mit aufladen der Waffe immernoch einen normalen Schuss abfeuern. Die Charge Combo des Dark Beam ist der Dark Burst. Dabei werden 30 Einheiten Dark Munition und 5 Missiles verbraucht.
