  • The Golodo was a bright green, moderately large, flightless bird, rather like a large goose on stilts. Excellent swimmers, they subsisted primarily on fish, crustaceans, and shellfish. Golodos gathered in large flocks during the breeding season in early summer, traveling in small groups during the rest of the year. Golodos would immediately flee the scent of any predator with surprising, if ungainly speed — except during the nesting season, when they would bravely defend their eggs. Given to snapping up carrion, golodos enjoyed the taste of meat: however, they would eat anything, since they were poor hunters.
