Launched on stardate 50749.5 in 2373 from Beta Antares Fleet Yards, the Prometheus brought a significant advantage to the "patriot" fleet during the Federation Civil War. She served as the flagship of Admiral Alynna Nechayev, and fought during Operation Return. (Star Trek: Pendragon) The following year, on stardate 51462, the Prometheus was undergoing additional performance trials in the Beta Quadrant when she was hijacked by the Tal Shiar, hoping to uncover the latest Starfleet tactical secrets. Using the vessel's multi-vector assault mode the Prometheus was able to overcome the Nebula-class USS Bonchune. The hijacking nearly succeeded, until the intervention of the Doctor from the USS Voyager (who had been transmitted to the Prometheus via a relay network from the Delta Quadrant). He and the Prometheus's Emergency Medical Hologram were able to slow down the Tal Shiar and hold off a Romulan assault until Starfleet reinforcements arrived. (VOY: "Message in a Bottle") From 2375 to 2376, the Prometheus fought on the front lines of the Federation-Gorn Conflict. SEAL Team Alpha-6 was posted to the ship during that time.
