A drop shaft used variable repulsorlift fields to alter gravity within a tube. There were two fields acting in concert; one controlling ascent, and the other governing the descent. Individuals entered the shaft without the aid of a car or platform, and were either pushed upward or floated down gently. Each floor attached to the shaft included miniature repulsorlift generators that created an invisible walkway and landing. Drop shafts were used throughout the Corporate Sector in corporate headquarters, Authority Data Centers, and shopping concourses to add a touch of glamour.

The entrance is located on the upper crag area of Talon Rock Summit and as such, access requires a Skell with a flight module equipped. A mix of low level and level 60 enemies inhabit the interior cavern, as well as the level 69 Tyrant Necro, the Cavelord. During the daytime the Drop Shaft's namesake entrance is guarded by the level 90 Tyrant Elvira, the Talondrake. There is also a level 4 archaeological Treasure Box in the cave.
