The 1968 French Air Force DC-6 crash was an accident involving a French Air Force transport aircraft on 9 March 1968. The Douglas DC-6 had departed Roland Garros Airport on the island of Réunion for a flight to Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport in Djibouti. The aircraft had nine crew and eight passengers on board. The flight crew did not follow the right departure procedure and the flight crashed into a hillside at 23:17 near Saint Denis. Sixteen of the seventeen passengers and crew died in the crash. One of the passengers who was killed in the crash was French Chief of Defence Staff, General, Charles Ailleret. The crash is the worst aviation accident to have occurred on Réunion.
