| - * This is Family Guy's second anthology episode, the first since "Family Guy Viewer Mail".
* While Peter said that the producers would see Stephen King in court, however they approached him first with the ideas of the episode, to which he approved according to the DVD commentary.
* The entire episode contains parodies of/homages to the works of writer Stephen King:
**The first segment is a parody of King's 1982 novella The Body which was adapted the film Stand by Me.
**The second segment is a parody of King's 1987 novel Misery, made into the film of the same name.
**The third segment is a parody of King's 1982 novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, adapted as The Shawshank Redemption.
*This is the second episode where Chris doesn't appear, the first being "Love, Blactually".
*This episode is Roy Scheider's last television appearance.
*Meg does not have any lines.
*This is the first time Lois has only one scene.
* The running gag with Joe keeping getting his legs damaged is similar to Groundskeeper Willie getting axed in the back in the fifth Simpsons Halloween special.
** In Stand By Me his legs are run over by two trains,
** In Misery he is shot in the legs, however this time killed as well, by Stewie,
** In The Shawshank Redemption his legs were beaten by cops with nightsticks with the purpose of crippling him as ordered by Warden Norton.
* The shot where Peter says, "Cleve, it's 1955. Please reenter the clubhouse in a more stereotypical animated fashion," can be seen in the 2010 film Unstoppable.
* In Misery it hints again that Stewie is gay by telling Paul that he is no longer wearing lipstick, asking to suck his thumb while feeling Paul's ear, and saying he fondled Paul as he slept. That and the fact that Stewie is dressed in drag during the entire segment.
* Peter escapes to the theme from Friends; "I'll Be There For You" by the Rembrandts by hitting a rock against the pipe in time with the clapping in the song.
* Peter deceives the audience by mentioning The Shining, another King masterpiece, before introducing the Shawshank parody.
* In "Stand by Me" Peter and Cleveland are singing "T.V. Medley" another song from Family Guy sung by Stewie and Brian.
* Ace Merrill's gang consists of Beast Man and Mer-Man from the early 1980's television series He Man and the Masters of The Universe, as well as Norm from Cheers.
* The narrator states that Cleve "married Rebecca Romijn," a nod to Jerry O'Connell's marriage to Romijn. Jerry played Vern in the original film.
