  • This is a list of all known supercentenarians that were born and/or died in Sweden. The country has a long tradition of compulsory population registration that spans back to the 18th century. As such, the reliability and completeness of Swedish data can be see as one of the highest in the world. Since Sweden openly keeps track of the oldest living people in the form of a centralized national list, finding anonymous cases is rare. Also, the openness of the system minimizes, if not eliminates, the chances of retrospectively discovering new deceased cases from the past. The only exception to this is if a Swedish-born person died in another country. As for the reverse, claimants who were born abroad but reside in/died in Sweden may be difficult to verify, depending on the documentation system of their birth nation. As of 30 January 2018, 15 of them have been verified by GRG. 2 people are pending as of January 2015. There are 4 additional cases which have not been reviewed/processed by GRG yet. This category is referred to as ”unverified”.
