Crops in Harvest Moon DS: Sunshine Islands In this version of Harvest Moon, you no longer water your crops everyday and get your crops on a certain day. In this version, a set amount of sun and water points are needed for your crop to advance to each stage. With the sun points, the weather controls this completely (unless you have a greenhouse of course). With the water points, you have a bit more control, but not complete control. If you water your crop one time, with no wonderfuls that increase power, then that is one water point. The weather still has a part in this because it might rain or drizzle. Here's the weather and how many points they give.

If you water your crop one time, with no wonderfuls that increase power, then that is one water point. The weather still has a part in this because it might rain or drizzle. Here's the weather and how many points they give. Sunny - Big red sun - 3 sun points - All year Clear - Small red sun - 2 sun points - All year Cloudy - Cloud - 1 sun point - All year Drizzle - Closed umbrella - 1 water point - Spring, Summer, Fall Rainy - Open umbrella - 2 water point - Spring, Summer, Fall Snowy - Snowman - 2 Water points - Winter Hurricane - Tornado with leaf - 3 Water points - Summer - Can't work on the day Blizzard - Pile of snow - 3 Water points - Winter - Can't work on the day Also, in previous Harvest Moon's, you could save before the day and see what the weather is like the next day. You can't do it in this one because the weather is decided 7 days before, so the save and reload method won't work. Too bad huh. Oh well. Another thing, if you want to know the weather, just talk to Taro, but be careful, he'll only say it once. Another note, (When will this end?) the weather also changes how much stamina is used when using tools. If it is cloudy or clear, no extra stamina will be used. If it is sunny or drizzle, 1 point (I think) is added to the amount of stamina that would have been used. Finally, if it is rainy or snowy, an extra 2 points (Again, I think) is added to the amount of stamina that would be used. That's all for the weather, but I might I need to add something else later. Oh yeah. I forgot. With the greenhouse. I sun means 1 sun points. There is a maximum of 3 sun holders in a greenhouse so that means a maximum of 3 sun points each day. One more thing. I need to show an example on growing crops.I'm going to use a turnip because I can't be stuffed talking about something else longer. Day 1 You've sown the seeds and you've watered them once so that's 1 water point. It's a clear day so that's 2 points 1 water point + 2 sun points Day 2 You water them again so that's another water point and it's cloudy so that's one extra sun point. 2 water points + 3 sun points Day 3 The crop has met all its requirements for the seed stage so it advances to the sprout stage. It's a rainy day, but for some unknown reason, you water the plants. That is now 3 water points and no sun points. 3 Water points + 0 sun points Day 4 It's another rainy day, but since you're an idiot, you water them 2 times, but don't worry, they won't go bad until they have reached 19 water points. You've added another 4 water points. 7 Water points + 0 sun points. Day 5 It's finally a sunny day so you don't need to do anything else, but since you think you have to water the crops everyday, you accidentally water them 11 times each. 18 Water points + 3 sun points. Day 6 The crops have reached all the criteria to reach the mature stage, so you can now pick them. They're probably going to a B rank or less since the you have to get the points as close to the minimum to get them at S-rank. Also, if you leave the turnips in the ground for longer, their size attribute will rise with each day.
