He played junior for the Quebec Remparts from 1977 to 1979. He was chosen 72nd overall in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He split the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons between the Leafs and their New Brunswick Hawks farm team. Tremblay was handed the Leafs starting job in 1981-82 but suffered behind a weak team. Tremblay was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1983. He only saw action in four games for them and retired in 1985. He played in a total of 58 NHL games.
