Buster Neft was the husband of Betsy Neft, and the son-in-law of Ed and Diana McGraw. A football player in high school, Neft served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was injured in combat, leaving him with a permanent limp and dashing his hopes of playing football professionally. In September, 1945, he shared the family's grief upon learning that his brother-in-law, Pat, had been killed by German Freedom Front attack outside of Munich, Germany. Buster and Betsy were both supportive of Diana McGraw's efforts to bring U.S. troops home after Pat McGraw's death.
