The Bastion National Army, abbreviated BNA, was the name given to the forces loyal to the New Bastion Empire of Jarahiya Haftiir to distinguish them from the mainstream Imperial Military, which was loyal to Empress Marasiah Fel during the Imperial internal conflict of 139—143 ABY. After General Haftiir carried out his successful coup d'état on Bastion, the Imperial capitol, he formed a new state known as the "New Bastion Empire", taking the title of Prince Regent, as the Empire's leader. His second-in-command, an admiral named Melik Kralj, was made a High Admiral and became the commander of the armed forces. The many Imperial units loyal to Haftiir were organized into the Bastion National Army (which was split into ground forces and the armada). The BNA fought against the Imperial military
