The Day the Earth Stood Still was a defunct 2008 movie that was going to be released the day the earth stood still, but "unfortunately" the people who made it who thought that on September 11, 2001 (what kind of fucking random date is that bullshit anyway) the world would end. Or something. Mainly, pretty much, everybody who watched The Day the Earth Stood Stll thought it was a bunch of bullshit and was a result of the producers having too much time on their hands.

  • The Day the Earth Stood Still was a popular movie on Earth about an alien invasion. While waiting in a hotel room in 2000, Teal'c watches this movie on television. (SG1: "Point of No Return")
  • While the crew was confined to the catwalk of Enterprise in 2152, Commander Charles Tucker III had the film shown for movie night on a monitor in Compartment 5. (ENT episode: "The Catwalk") In 2153, Tucker showed the film to a Vissian cogenitor whom he had befriended. At first, the cogenitor believed that it was an accurate depiction of Earth. However, Tucker explained that it was a work of fiction and the Earth never actually stood still. After viewing the film, the cogenitor inquired as to why the humans had been reacted with paranoia to its alien protagonist Klaatu and his android Gort. Tucker then explained that humans were "pretty violent" before first contact with the Vulcans in 2063 and typically reacted with fear to things that they did not understand. (ENT episode: "Cogenitor")
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still var en populär film på Jorden om en utomjordisk invasion. I väntan på ett hotellrum, Överste Jonathan J. O'Neill och Teal'c tittade på filmen på tv. (SG1: "Point of No Return")
  • This film was among those in the motion picture library aboard Enterprise NX-01 in 2152. While cooped up in the catwalk of Enterprise, Trip Tucker presented The Day the Earth Stood Still for movie night on a monitor in compartment five. (ENT: "The Catwalk") In 2153, after deciding againstwestern movies, Tucker showed the movie to Charles, a Vissian cogenitor whom he'd befriended, knowing that it would be the first movie the cogenitor would watch. After watching the film, Charles asked Trip why Humans were afraid of Klaatu and his android. (ENT: "Cogenitor")
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still is a 1951 science fiction film about a man from another world who visits Earth on a goodwill mission. The Muppet Babies episode "From a Galaxy Far, Far Away..." uses footage from the movie when the babies are "playing UFO". The babies use a round coffee table with an overturned bowl on top to stand in for a flying saucer. Footage of the film's spacecraft is inter-cut with their nursery fantasy, and some of Baby Gonzo's alien dialogue is reminiscent of the language spoken in the film.
  • Appearently, some alien dude who looks exactly like a human called David or something is going to invade our World and cut off our electricity permanently so that he can steal our pizzas. Lol. And after that, he was going to enter a space-shuttle and somehow destroy our World with a "laser beam" (as if that thing even exists) and leave us with no nutritious sources to rely on and we were all gonna be screwed because we have no electricity and no pizzas to eat. Yeah, right.
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still was a 1951 black and white science-fiction movie starring Michael Rennie, which was based on a 1940 science-fiction short story called Farewell to the Master, written by Harry Bates.
  • Announcer: And now it's time for "Bum Reviews" with Chester A. Bum. Tonight's review: "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Chester: OH MY GOD, THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! There's this guy called Klaatu. Only he's not really a guy. He's an alien! And he takes on the most strangest, bizarre form you've ever seen! He takes on the form of Keanu Reeves! Ahhhhhhhhh! And there's a woman who has a kid. And she's like the greatest mother in the world! She finds out a meteor is gonna crash into New York City. And rather than tell her kid to get out of there, she says, "Love you." "Click."
  • The Day The Earth Stood Still is a 1951 black-and-white science fiction movie based on the short story Farewell to the Master. The Human Alien Klaatu lands in Washington DC (in a classic Flying Saucer) during the Cold War era. The paranoid military shoots him, prompting his robot Gort to go on a rampage. Klaatu stops Gort, then tells the President of a message for all the world's leaders (who can't agree on a meeting place). Klaatu later escapes to live among the people of Earth and learns of their penchant for war -- but also of their message of peace and understanding.

As a demonstration of power, Klaatu freezes everything mechanical in the entire world (except for airplanes in flight and hospital electronics) for exactly half an hour. (This is the event referred to in the title, though nobody calls it such within the story.) The military takes this as a sign of hostile intent and responds by hunting Klaatu down and killing him. Shortly before they catch up with him, Klaatu gives one of his newfound human friends, Helen, a message to deliver to Gort in his own language: "Klaatu Barada Nikto." Gort re-activates upon Klaatu's death and begins destroying the city, but Helen's message diverts Gort into retrieving Klaatu's body. The robot temporarily revives Klaatu, who tells the people of Earth of Gort's true purpose: he, and other robots like him, were built to enforce peace in the galaxy -- and if humans bring their warlike ways into space, they will be destroyed. Klaatu leaves Earth with a simple phrase to mull over: "The choice is yours." This film's plot was copied in the extremely similar (yet hilarious) Plan 9 from Outer Space. A 2008 remake starred Keanu Reeves in the role of Klaatu; you can see the plot of the remake as recapped by a Bum in this video on Bum Reviews.

  • The Day the Earth Stood Still was a 1951 black and white science-fiction movie starring Michael Rennie, which was based on a 1940 science-fiction short story called Farewell to the Master, written by Harry Bates. Emmett Brown had seen the movie at some point, presumably in 1951 at either the Town Theater or the Essex Theater in Hill Valley. When Doc, clad in his radiation suit, got out of the DeLorean time machine on meeting Marty McFly at Twin Pines Mall on October 26, 1985, he remembered the scene where Rennie's character, the humanoid alien Klaatu, first stepped from his flying saucer onto Earth.

Yeah, right. And after that, this David alien was gonna relax in his own planet and eat some energy bars as he resides comfortably in his chair while he watches us die of starvation. Lol. So how is he gonna see us from his planet? Nostradamus claimed he was gonna use a telescope. Ha ha. Yeah, right.

And rather than tell her kid to get out of there, she says, "Love you." "Click." What a parent! I would've been panicking, telling my kid to get out of there! She'd much rather let him die peacefully than....live. So, the alien comes down to Earth in a giant, rotten grapefruit. And he's like, "We come in peace." And the soldiers are like, "Bang!" "Eugh!" (Mimics falling after being shot) So, they rush him to a hospital as quickly as possible. And when the Keanu Reeves alien wakes up, he's like, "Dude, you shot me. Bummer!" So, the scientists are giving him this lie detector test. But then, through magic alien powers, Keanu Reeves is giving HIM the lie detector test! He's like, "How do I get out of here?" "Just go through the door." "Where can I get some clothes?" "Take mine - they're too itchy." "Did you like 'Sweet November'?" "It was cliched and implausible." "You die!" (punches) "Eugh!" So, Keanu Reeves escapes from the hostipal. But he's like, "Dude, I need a ride! Dude, where's my car?" So, that nice mother woman decides to drive him around. And she's such a good mother that she brings her kid along on this most certainly dangerous mission. I wish my mother would do that! If I didn't eat her. So, the mother is like, "Are you going to kill us?" And Reeves is like, "Yah! This planet is totally bogus!" "Oh, bummer." "That's MY line!" So, he unleashes this giant robot thing Gort. Gort. What kind of a name is that? It sounds like a Swedish dessert made out of pig testicles. So, Gort is like a bajillion feet tall. And you might be thinking, "What is he gonna do?" Is he gonna zap all the people? Blow up some buildings? Eat Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh so people can think for themselves again? No! He decides to turn into mosquitoes! ...Mosquitoes! Ahhhhhhhh! That's a million times cooler than blowing things up! I wish I could turn into mosquitoes! ...Wait, no I don't. That would be stupid. So, the mosquitoes go flying around, sucking the life out of everything. And Reeves is like, "Ha ha! The personality has already been sucked out of me! Tubular!" But then, he sees that the mother and the son actually love each other. Because they come together and talk about the father's death. One. Year. After. He. Died! What a great mother! I would've talked about it a week, maybe even a day after he died. But a year? ...That's ingenius! So, Reeves is like, "Whoa, there's two nice people on this planet. I better stop destroying it!" The only problem is he doesn't know how. I guess this advanced alien race doesn't believe in turn-off buttons. Especially when it comes to destroying worlds, 'cause pfft, it's not important. So, Reeves is like, "I'm just gonna put my hand on the ship and see what happens!" "...Whoa." "Poof!" So, the Earth is safe at last! Except all the lights and cars and electricity and the planet goes off. But we didn't need that anyway! I don't live with lights, cars or electricity, and I get along just fine! Please shoot me. So, this movie really was fantastitamic! It's not like that boring black and white movie with social commentary and religious symbolism. This movie has Theodore Logan in it! Party on, Klaatu! Party on, Gort! (Mimics Bill & Ted guitar riff) Party on indeed. This is Chester A. Bum saying CHANGE?? Ya got change?! Aw c'mon, help a guy out, will ya?! C'mon, change! I need money to protect myself from the aliens! Mosquito nets aren't cheap, y'know!
