- Signposts serve little purpose for more experienced players who know their way around Gielinor better and can use the world map efficiently.
- A Signpost is an interactive object. To read one, press Image:B button (N64).png when next to it. They appear in Banjo-Tooie, and there are 61 signposts throughout the entire game. When a signpost is examined, Jamjars reads it for you.
- Signposts are placed near the entrance of each depth of the dungeon.
- These signposts were found in the game files but were never released:

- In Animal Forest, Animal Forest +, Animal Crossing, and Animal Forest e+, signposts will have hints written on them. Some hints are written by Tom Nook, some are written by Redd. They are not to be confused with Sign Boards. Signposts mark where villagers' homes may appear (except the one from Kapp'n near the dock). If a villager moves out of town, a signpost will appear where their house was. When a villager moves in, their house will appear where a sign post was. As such, the player won't be able to plant trees too close to a signpost, since that space is reserved for new villagers' homes.
- They are normally positioned near something that is related to the tip they contain (such as a signpost with tips about the village store, being situated near a village store). Signposts that haven't been clicked before are always spinning. After a signpost has been clicked, it will stop spinning and will always be facing the player, no matter from which angle they look at them.
- However, in Ultima I, the signposts found in Sosaria had powers to either raise stats or to give equipment. The various kings gave quests to find these signposts, with two signposts on each of the continents. However, each signpost could only be visited again, after visiting a different signpost first. The eight signposts are:
* The Pillars of Protection[agility]
* The Tower of Knowledge[protection]
* The Sign Post
* Southern Sign Post
* The Pillars of the Argonauts
* The Pillar of Ozymandias
* Grave of the Lost Soul
* The Eastern Sign Post

Elke Sign Post geeft je ook andere informatie weer. In sommige werelden kunnen de resultaten van Sign posts flink verschillen. Een PVP wereld zal hogere scores behalen dan een normale RuneScape wereld. Je hebt er ook allerlei soorten, met sommige signposts kan je niets, met andere vind je er nuttige informatie.
