The Mapledene Road Estate is a small council estate in the Sheldon area of east Birmingham, on the border with the Solihull district]]. To the north and east is Sheldon Country Park, with Birmingham International Airport further beyond. To the west and south are interwar low rise housing. Plans for the estate were approved in 1952 on former wasteground, long before Birmingham Aiport began to develop. The plans were predominantly low rise, although two 6 storey tower blocks were also built with 30 flats. Construction began in 1953 and the estate was built by Wimpey.
