Lorak is a senior jarl in Skandia and only appears in The Battle For Skandia.
Lorak was a male Klingon who served as member of the Klingon High Council in the mid 23rd century. He ascended to the position of Chancellor in 2260 following the death of his predecessor Durak. Part of his success for his rise to the leadership of the Klingon Empire was attributed largely to the efforts of his chief advisor Gorkon, son of Toq. In the years that followed, Lorak became a mentor to a young Chang and taught the younger warrior everything he knew about combat. This made Chang fiercely loyal to his old mentor and he defended Lorak during a coup attempted made by Kalnor of the House of G'Iogh in 2290. Chang was personally responsible for killing Kalnor and ending the war that emerged amongst the Klingon people.

Whilst Lorak continued his reign for the later part of the century, he had become old and it was suspected that he would eventually die soon. This time came to pass in 2291 when Lorak died and brought about a Civil War when Melkor of the House of G'Iogh declared himself Emperor of the Klingon Empire. Whilst the lines of succession meant that Lorak's Chief of staff Gorkon was next in line to the Chancellorship. However, Chang refused to back Gorkon because of his plans to make peace with the United Federation of Planets. Ultimately, the Civil War was resolved and Gorkon ascended to the position of Chancellor and took over from Lorak where he attempted to bring a lasting peace with the Federation following the conclusion of the short but brutal civil war that ravaged Klingon space. (TOS video game: Klingon Academy) This information is contradicted by the Star Trek: Vanguard series, which has Sturka as Chancellor during the 2260s, and also establishes a different career path for Gorkon.
