  • Brainy makes it safely to the Smurf Village and warns his fellow Smurfs that Gargamel is coming. They quickly hide inside their houses for safety while Brainy enters Papa Smurf's laboratory to warn the village leader of Gargamel's approach. Papa Smurf hears the wizard's voice as he is coming closer and realizes that he can't let him find the village. He decides to make an invisibility formula that will render the village invisible, and so he has Brainy and Clumsy gather up all the ingredients for the formula, including the most important one of all: glowberries, and lots of them. However, as the two Smurfs gather up all the ingredients and place them inside the boiling cauldron, Brainy says that there's only one glowberry left. Papa Smurf places the last glowberry into the mixture, hoping that one glowberry will be enough to do the job. Soon the liquid in the cauldron changes colors, and outside the laboratory the village starts shifting in and out of view just as Gargamel is near enough to see it. Azrael sees the village and alerts his master, but Gargamel turns and sees nothing but an empty barren patch of land. Azrael sees it again as it pops back into view, but Gargamel is too busy thinking of an evil plan, and soon he has one in mind that he can't wait to try out. He takes his cat with him and leaves the forest. The Smurfs cheer as they watch Gargamel heading out of the forest, and Brainy feels relieved and confident that Papa Smurf's plan had worked. But Papa Smurf says they're not out of danger yet, and now they're out of glowberries, so he gathers all the Smurfs together and tells them to go out into the forest to look for glowberries. The Smurfs are so eager to do this task that they quickly rush off and leave Brainy talking to nobody until Jokey gives him one of his "surprises" to open. Out in the forest, however, Hefty gets frustrated because they have come across the tenth glowberry bush and haven't found a single berry on any of them. Smurfette wonders who's been taking the glowberries, and Lazy thinks they should just sleep on it. Hefty tells Lazy to go search the nearby grove that he points to, and Lazy goes over there to take a nap. But things get a little toasty for him as he finds himself being breathed on by fire. He looks and sees that he was sleeping near a baby dragon, who was letting off little flares as he was hiccuping. He cries for help as he leaps up into a tree, but Smurfette pays more attention to the baby dragon's situation than Lazy's, feeling sorry for the creature. Hefty warns Smurfette that the baby dragon might be dangerous, but Smurfette assures him that the baby dragon wouldn't hurt a fly -- although an accidental flare makes Hefty jump up and grab the same branch that Lazy is taking hold of. The Smurfs carry the baby dragon back to the village, where they talk to Papa Smurf about the dragon. The village leader is rather disappointed that he asked for glowberries instead of a baby dragon, but Hefty says that they couldn't find any. Smurfette asks if Papa Smurf could make the baby dragon feel all better, and Papa Smurf says he will see what he can do. Meanwhile, Gargamel is busy brewing up a formula that will send a powerful storm over the Smurf Village that will destroy it. However, just as the formula is ready, it ends up creating a rainstorm right inside Gargamel's lair which lasts for a while before it dissipates and leaves a rainbow behind. All Gargamel could say to that is that he's getting close. Back in the village, Papa Smurf has fixed up a remedy for the baby dragon and feeds it to him, which suddenly stops the hiccups. The Smurfs cheer and the baby dragon is so grateful that he gives Papa Smurf a friendly lick. He tells his little Smurfs that they need to take the baby dragon back out into the forest and look for more glowberries. A little later, though, Hefty returns and says he has found the last glowberry growing in the forest, and so Papa Smurf plants the berry in the ground and pours on it a magic growth formula. The single berry instantly sprouts into a bush full of ripe green glowberries, but as Papa Smurf and his little Smurf go to get buckets to collect the berries, the baby dragon sees them and couldn't resist helping himself to them. By the time the Smurfs return with their buckets, they see that the glowberries are now gone. Meanwhile, Gargamel creates another formula, this time for making a snow cloud that will be able to freeze out the Smurfs. He sends the cloud out into the forest and tells it to seek the most warm-hearted creatures in it. As the cloud drifts across the skies, Brainy is busy scolding Lazy for sleeping on the job when he should be looking for glowberries. Lazy says he's getting the sunshine while it lasts because it's going to snow. Brainy scoffs at that, saying that it's the middle of summer, but then Lazy directs Brainy's attention to a thick dark cloud that snow and lightning are coming from. The cloud settles over the Smurf Village and covers it with snow, causing every Smurf in it to go inside their houses for warmth and safety. Papa Smurf has a feeling that Gargamel must have created the cloud to freeze out the Smurfs, but as he wonders how he's going to get rid of the cloud, the Smurfs hear and see a fiery sneeze outside. It is the baby dragon, and now he's caught a cold. Papa Smurf then has an idea: he pours a bit of a formula on the ground and has the baby dragon sneeze right on the spot. The flame from the spot reaches high to the cloud and causes it to move away from the village, making the Smurfs cheer. Soon, though, the cloud settles over Gargamel's castle and makes things so cold for the evil wizard that he's boiling mad to get even with the Smurfs for this. While the climate in the Smurf Village returns to normal, the baby dragon is still sneezing, making the Smurfs fearful of being around him as his sneezes accidentally activate Handy's new Azrael-catching trap and causes Jokey's "surprise" fro the dragon to prematurely explode. Hefty then reports to Papa Smurf that he has found a bush of glowberries right at Papa Smurf's doorstep, but as they rush to check it out, the baby dragon has already beaten them to the berries and ate them, and now he's got the hiccups again. Papa Smurf tells Smurfette that the Smurfs will have to take the baby dragon out into the forest, and Smurfette groans as she realizes that Papa Smurf is right. Meanwhile, Gargamel is out in the forest looking for Smurfs again when he hears two of them coming and so hides behind a bush with his cat to wait for them. Smurfette and Hefty are bringing the baby dragon back out into the forest, and Smurfette manages to stop the dragon from sneezing. Suddenly Gargamel emerges from the bush and grabs the two Smurfs, but the dragon growls and sneezes out a flame that makes the evil wizard let go of his captives. The dragon catches them and scares Azrael up a tree before he lets the two Smurfs loose. Gargamel manages to tie his sack around the dragon's mouth, saying that he has lost two Smurfs but has gained a weapon that he could use against them. Smurfette and Hefty rush back to the village to warn Papa Smurf that Gargamel now has the dragon, which makes Papa Smurf worried that he will use the dragon against them. He says that invisibility may be their only defense, so he has the Smurfs go out into the forest to make a careful search for more glowberries. Of course, while most of the Smurfs are looking for glowberries, Brainy is too busy offering them his advice, which earns him a well-deserved boot. In Gargamel's lair, the evil wizard wonders what he's going to do with the baby dragon and then he has an idea. Soon the Smurfs see that Gargamel has taken to the air, riding in a hot-air balloon in which he will easily find the Smurf Village. Papa Smurf says they'll need to delay him until they get more glowberries, so Hefty and Lazy take to the air riding on Feathers, armed with lances with which they hope to pop Gargamel's balloon. But the evil wizard was expecting this from the Smurfs and so has his secret weapon, the baby dragon, sneeze fire on them by tickling his nose. The Smurfs dodge the fire as they try to get close enough to puncture the balloon, but the sneezes make it difficult to get any closer. Meanwhile, Papa Smurf frantically gets the invisibility formula ingredients mixed together, hoping to turn the village invisible before Gargamel spots it. Alas, the evil wizard does see the village down below, but just as he prepares for the dragon's next sneeze, he breaks his bonds and falls to the ground, where the mother dragon catches him. Soon the invisibility formula is complete, and the village completely vanishes from Gargamel's sight, making him fuss and fume at the baby dragon. The mother dragon responds by breathing a flame that reaches Gargamel's balloon, popping it and sending him and his cat flying as it deflates. Papa Smurf then gathers the Smurfs together to congratulate Hefty and Lazy for their bravery in the call of duty, but he notices that Lazy isn't with Hefty to receive his dues. Instead, he's busy sleeping away in a hammock, with Brainy saying he knew that he wasn't afraid for a single minute until a dark shadow falls upon him and makes him think that it's Gargamel. However, the Smurfs see that it's only a passing cloud in the sky, and Brainy joins his fellow Smurfs in laughing at his mistake. Gargamel's balloon finally lands in a tree, and the evil wizard is blaming Azrael for getting stuck in this situation, asking if he has anything to say for himself. Azrael only responds with a sneeze, which causes them both to fall into a muck pond, making Gargamel seething mad as he simply glares at his cat.
