  • Fanfiction is a non-canon therefore it's completely pointless material made by "fans" on the Internet. While some of it is decent, a good majority will have you considering dropping HCl or Sulphuric Acid on your face. The Fanbases that are deemed as the worst, often end up making those horrible fan stories (which is why their bases are terrible in the first place). However, some people are fragile about their works and get Butthurt when you insult the pile of trash they have just created.

  • Fanfiction is an unofficial creative work that is created by a fan of something. In the case of Toontown Online, fanfiction is written by players about the Toontown universe. Fanfiction ranges from art to short stories and novels. Disney has accepted fanfiction in the form of drawings and poetry for their contests on Toontown.com.
  • Fanfiction is fiction written by fans about characters and/or settings created by someone else for a TV series, movie, book, comic, video game, and so forth. Basically, if you didn't create it, but you're writing about it, and it wasn't commissioned by the original creator (or rights holder), it is fanfiction. Fanfiction writers use the characters and situations from these works to develop their own personal and, sometimes, preferred views of the story. A fanfiction story is called a fanfic or fic for short.

  • Fanfiction is the term applied to non-canon, fictional stories or poems written by fans using the characters and events from existing literature or films, or, occasionally, real-life (a character, usually the author, comes in contact with a celebrity or famous personality). When referring to works of fiction, fanfiction is often used for speculation, or to suggest possible deviations from the canonical storyline, showing what might have happened.
  • Fanfiction (shortened to fanfic or fic) is the art of writing a fictional story using pre-existing characters and worlds, whether they're from TV shows, movies, books, video games, or even Internet Flash cartoons thus using fan-created or fan-made fictional characters. Original characters can be introduced (e.g. a new student at Hogwarts) as well. Some fanfics can be crossovers between two different series or worlds (e.g. Harry Potter meets Inheritance or Grand Theft Auto meets Super Mario Brothers).
  • Had to happen eventually. Let's collect Steph fanfiction here! NC-17 is not allowed. Neither is trollfic, smut/lemons, or anything that glorifies disgusting sexist tropes. You should know what I'm talking about. This is fic by Steph fans for Steph fans is what I'm sayin, and someone under eighteen should be able to read it without having to bleach their eyeballs. Some of it's old, proceed at with caution for mediocre quality. Listed chronologically, so the worst ones would be at the beginning. Killing Time (from DCU oneshots)- Steph meets Kate Spencer. A short ficlet done for charity.
  • Fan fiction (alternately referred to as fanfiction, fanfic, FF or fic) is a broadly defined term for fiction about characters or settings written by admirers of the original work, rather than by the original creators. The term usually applies to works that are uncommissioned and unauthorized by the owner/creators and publishers of the original and usually (but not always) works which are not professionally published. Fan fiction is defined outside of original fiction, which exists within its own discrete, professionally published universe, and therefore outside of canon works within that universe. Most fan fiction writers assume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe (created by a professional writer) in which their works are based.

Before about 1965, the term "fan fiction" was used in science fiction fandom to designate original, though amateur, works of science fiction published in science fiction fanzines, as differentiated from fiction that was professionally published by professional writers, but this usage is now obsolete. Modern definitions of the term exclude such entirely original writing from the genre. Today, fan fiction writers use characters and situations already created by other writers in order to develop their personal and preferred views of the story. For example, the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling have spawned a lively fan fiction genre, in which the characters make choices and enjoy an afterlife that Rowling herself did not create. Material in which the fan fiction author merely consciously imitates the style, voice, and/or subject of another author's work is usually called pastiche and is generally considered a separate genre from standard fan fiction, though some works may in fact be both a pastiche and a fan fiction story. Unauthorized films that are derivative works are generally referred to as fan films, while fan-made comic books are usually referred to as either "fan comics" or (in Japan) doujinshi. These films and comics are generally considered different from "fan fiction", which is regarded as literary in nature.

Original characters can be introduced (e.g. a new student at Hogwarts) as well. Some fanfics can be crossovers between two different series or worlds (e.g. Harry Potter meets Inheritance or Grand Theft Auto meets Super Mario Brothers). There are good fanfics and fanfic authors out there, however, fanfics tend to be associated with many negative elements, such as; Mary Sues, bad grammar and spelling, cliche plots, archetypes, purple prose, bad writing or grammar style, and absolute butchery of the actual characters.

When referring to works of fiction, fanfiction is often used for speculation, or to suggest possible deviations from the canonical storyline, showing what might have happened. The legality of fanfiction is often questioned, because writers of fanfiction freely use copyrighted characters and places without permission. Many authors dislike their works being used as the basis for fanfiction, although Christopher Paolini has encouraged fanfiction for his works. Writers of fanfiction argue that their work is considered fair use, reasons including that a profit is not made out of the work and that the work serves as promotion for the original material. The Inheritance cycle offers a great opportunity for fanfiction writers, due to the lack of expanded detail in certain areas of the books, such as the past, and locations outside Alagaesia.

Back in the Fold- Very old, done pre-Robin #174 wh[ile the author was anxiously awaiting Steph's return. A super sappy look at what Steph and Cass's reunion (which we never got to see in actuality, grrr) may have been like]. Prized Possessions- A oneshot where Steph rescues Tim. Written shortly after Robin #174. IT IS NOT VERY GOOD AT ALL. Dinner with the Drake Clan- The tale of how Steph first met Tim's Dad and Dana on an eventful first date. Pure adventure-y fluff. Killing Time (from DCU oneshots)- Steph meets Kate Spencer. A short ficlet done for charity. Pass/Fail (from DCU oneshots)- Cass and Steph mentor Misfit. A short ficlet done for charity. Sage Advice- Steph isn't IN this one, but she figures heavily into the conversation. Damian tracks down Cassandra to ask her why she chose Stephanie as a successor. Crisis of Infinite Batgirls- A work in progress. Stephanie is dragged along by a time traveling villain and ends ups having to team up with Cassandra and Barbara of the past to stop him. On the way, she and they learn about the truth behind Batgirl. Harrierverse- Everyone should check this stuff out. Scroll to the bottom for the first chapter- it's an AU where the Birds of Prey took Steph under their wing after she was fired as Robin and it's fabulous.
