They are perhaps the most dangerous enemies found in the Serpent Trench, as their special Garrote is powerful, and when it is alone it can cast Aqua Breath, which deals heavy damage to the entire party. Thus, they should be defeated first to avoid the danger of Aqua Breath. Sabin's Blitzes works well, as does Gau's Belmodar and Cloud (Thundara) Rages, both of which use powerful Lightning-elemental attacks that can fry this slippery eel.
