abstract
  • The Dorvain General Election, 1830 was held on the 27th May 1830 to elect the Ninth Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 125 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. The election resulted in another victory for Clegg's Democrats over Duke Franklin of Washton's Royalists. The Democrats reformed the electoral map in order to help end its bias in favour of the Royalists. However the King himself prohibited several proposals before one was finally settled on; the King's stated reasons were that he didn't want to decrease too many city seats due to the large population there, and he didn't want the taxpayer to have to fund any more than 125 Senators. However his widely acknowledged true reason was he still didn't want it to be too easy for the Democrats to win elections in the future. Clegg was still popular; with the working class he was popular due to investing in infrastructure for areas in poverty and with the upper class he was seen as more competent than the Royalists.
